A couple hundred journalists are here in the Loews hotel, next to the Dolby Theater, where our winners will begin trickling in to talk to us in around two hours time.
In the mean time, I'm watching the red carpet live stream and fangirling over Taylor Zahkar Perez basically being Alex Claremont-Diaz in real life...

Jimmy Kimmel kicked off the ceremony with his round of jokes, first celebrating the global phenomenon that was , referencing Greta Gerwig and Margot's snubs for Best Director and Best Actress, while also praising Ryan for just being "hot" and his genetics, at which point he showed off his date, his older sister Mandi Gosling.
He did elicit some "boos," but that was for a couple of Yorgos Lanthimos puns rather than any bad jokes. After being asked by Robert Downey Jr. to "keep it moving" after referencing his past substance abuse, he got the audience on their feet when he brought out all the people working behind the scenes to celebrate their efforts.

In a tough category, Jefferson wins out while he eagerly awaits the film's result in the Best Picture category, where he is nominated as a producer (he also directed the Jeffrey Wright-fronted movie, which received five nominations.

Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell, the co-writers and composers on the track "What Was I Made For?" performed their Oscar-nominated track, the first of the night's Original Song nominees. After starting out slow with a simple piano melody, they unveiled an entire orchestra to back Billie's vocals.
While it seemed like the young singer may have been a bit out of breath at times, the song's general melancholic tone helped. The "Bad Guy" singer was quite touched and genuinely moved to see the audience erupt into a standing ovation.

It came to a head when the Supporting Actress nominee made a joke about her co-star's "painted" abs, which drove Ryan over the edge.
